Quality Engineer

Our Client is a world-class precision-machined powertrain and brake components supplier for Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. In 2021, it realized a turnover of 167 million euros and employed 1100 full-time employees.The entity has production facilities in Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Croatia and Romania, with its headquarters in Belgium. The company has a diversified blue-chip customer portfolio, including Audi, Caterpillar, Continental, Cummins, DAF, General Motors, Punch Powertrain, and Volkswagen.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Continuously monitor product quality using statistical methods and analyses, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001)
• Identify quality deviations and conduct analyses, including 8D reports and root cause analysis, defining corrective and preventive measures
• Collaboration with production teams to improve processes and ensure quality stability through control of measurement instruments and processes
• Participate in preparing and conducting audits, both internal and external, and align with audit results
• Monitor measurement instruments and ensure all instruments are calibrated and fit for serial production
• Provide technical support to field operators and ensure that measurement systems are used correctly
• Participate in continuous process improvement through KVP and the optimization of the quality management system
• Ensure that all quality-related documents (PPAP, control plans, 8D reports) are up-to-date and comply with customer requirements
• Actively participate in analyzing and resolving customer complaints, including implementing corrective actions and continuously monitoring outcomes
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor according to knowledge and abilities
• Comply with quality, occupational safety, environmental, and energy management regulations

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

• University degree, Mechanical engineer, with a focus on Quality Management or comparable qualification
• 3 years of experience in related field
• Quality management systems
• Quality assurance, measurement tools, and inspection methods
• Basic knowledge of CNC machining
• Experience in conducting internal and external audits
• Experience preferably in the automotive industry

SPECIFIC SKILLS (considered a plus):

• QMS according to IATF 16949; ISO 9001
• VDA guidelines
• PLP, PFMEA, APQP, 5W, 8D, KVP, sampling (PPAP, EMPB)
• Statistical process analysis (Q-das)
• Detailed knowledge of product and process quality
• MS Office, ERP system
• IATF 16949 Auditor, VDA 6.3 Auditor is a plus
• Customer-specific requirements
